Benign Thoughts

Good morning everyone! Well, I just woke up about an hour ago, and I feel like covering some topics that I didn’t get to yesterday because of some time issues. This post shouldn’t be too long, but none of my entries are that long. So anyway, I guess I should start now.

Scott Harden may have competition. I recently helped someone I know from a forum get a blog. Well, it was quite odd, because this guy’s the biggest spammer around, but I got him a blog anyways. His most recent post was 2799 words long (I used OpenOffice to see). Meanwhile, Scott’s latest is 2369 words long. Could it be? Could Peter Torres be the next Scott Harden? Amazing isn’t it.

UnrealPages is coming very, very soon. Bobby, Chris, and I have been working as hard as we can on the new hosting company, UnrealPages. Chris is ordering hosting for us, Bobby is wordking on the scripting for the backend and the admin frontend, and I’ve been working on the layout, which is just about done. I think the layout was the easiest part, since I based it on the admin section. It looks really professional, yet uses no images. Yeah, it’s quite a site to see. Anyway, I think it should be out within a week or two.

No blogging next week! Yep, once again I’m heading to summer camp for a week, and yes, this means no blogging. However, once I get back I should have a lot to write about, so that will make up for the whole week.

Remember a few days ago when I published my first hack? Well, I’ve decided that once WordPress 1.3 comes out (I’m currently using the alpha), I’m going to work on some REAL PLUGINS!!! Woo hoo!

I’ve been browsing blogs recently and what did I find? Well, Peoii (Zen, and the Art of Blogging) has me on his blogroll. Well, I don’t really have a blogroll, but I do have a Bloglines username, and he’s on there. So anyway, that just made me feel really special.

What’s going on with UnrealPages? Yeah, if you don’t already know, UnrealPages, or UP, is the name of the hosting company that I’m helping with. Right now, it’s not up, but we have a forum layout, and we have a nifty admin section that Bobby (False-Hopes) coded. So far, this seems to be the most complex host that I’ve seen yet, but yeah. Anyway, if you want to see the plans we have so far, here they are:

The bandwidth is very low, but that’s all we can really afford at the moment. Those are the free plans, but the paid plans, if we have any, will help us a lot. All the money made from the ads and such go right back into the hosting, so basically, it’s non-profit, and the ads are for you, not us. Once we get enough money in the PayPal, we’ll go adfree. In other words, we’re a host like no other. The release date has not yet been determined.

Sorry for not posting lately. I’ve been busy with a few things, like the forum and my WordPress addon. Anyway, a few interesting things have been happening, so I guess I should have a good amount of stuff to write about :).

My mom gave away my taco… Well, yesterday after I graduated Middle School, we went out to Taco Bell. There were these guys on their lunch hour that were waiting on line for 20 minutes, and when they finally sat down, at the table next to me, my mom, and Joanna, one of the guys dropped his lunch. My mom felt bad for him, so she gave him MY TACO. MY FREAKIN’ TACO!!! Well, I wasn’t going to eat the taco anyway, because I don’t eat beef (the taco came with my chicken quesadilla meal thingie). Evil taco stealing moms…

Yeah, yesterday was my graduation. That means, that I won’t be able to see Caitlin again until September (probably). I honestly don’t know how I’m going to last, so uh… yeah. But anyway, the graduation was pretty cool. We got to sit outside for a long time under the extremely hot sun, sweating our asses off.

I just got Battle Royale (the novel). I haven’t started it yet, but I plan on doing so very soon. We went to the library to pick it up (our library didn’t have it, so they got it sent in from a library pretty far from here), and I ended up with my mom’s quilting book. She got Battle Royale, on HER CARD. Now I have no control over renewing and I have no clue when it’s due. If I want to renew it, I have to ask my mom to do it. Yeah, it sucks.

I finally released my first hack (more like an addon). It allows you to quote people from inside wordpress. You can get it here. This is my first hack, so if something’s wrong with it, post what’s wrong in the support topic here. The demo is my very own quotes page. There’s a link to it on the navigation bar.
Feel free to modify this hack.

Well, here’s a little update. I’ve decided to take down LCnet and integrate it with the BT forums on this server.

Yeah, some features are missing, but that’s because I transferred from IBF to phpBB. I installed mods for the missing features, and some still need to be installed.

Ok, so I screwed up. Yeah, I went to my cousin’s house today for another party. I have a party practically every sunday. Anyway, we went to the field in the back to play frisbee. There were these people (perhaps a tad bit drunk) back there with some really cool long balloons that make a sound when they fly, and they fly straight (and beer, but that’s not the point). So anyway, I went over there to watch, and then my cousins came and we started also playing with the balloons (they had 2 pumps). Dude, these things were awesome, it’s so cool how they fly. Long story short, right when we were leaving, Uncle Carl came and we got in trouble for talking to strangers.

Damn that router. my dad rigged the router so that it shuts off my internet every night at 12, so now I have to get up earlier and listen to my sister whine while I’m on the internet. Tonight and tomorrow night, my internet’ll go off at 10. Wednesday, we have no school (I think), and Thursday we have graduation.

What’s going on with that host? Well, Chris, one of the guys I’m working on it with, is away in england. He is the person who ordered OUR hosting, so we’re stuck until he gets back. Yeah.. It sucks.

Another site added to my list of sites I moderate: The Web Forums. Go there… I’m Louis C, and I’m one of the Head Moderators. How did I become one? I gave the owner a gmail address.
