Benign Thoughts

Well, I’ve actually been wondering about this for a while. Those dumb WP guys apparently don’t know how to count because they skipped a version. Anyway, yeah, I knew that they skipped a number already since I use nightlies (nightlies, not nighties).

Anyway, the gentoo install went very well. Here’s a warning though: when you install gentoo, if you install gentoo, make sure you emerge coldplug otherwise you won’t be able to connect to the internet. It doesn’t say to do it in the Gentoo handbook though, so yeah.

I got a new harddrive for christmas so I’m installing gentoo on it. I’ll be back soon.

I feel like I have to apoligize again for not being around for a while. Read sunday’s post for the details. Now, today’s post is going to try to cover quite a bit, so just stick around.

Well, this is old news, but SuprNova.org is gone (sucks, doesn’t it). I don’t know why they went, but I’m guessing it was because it costed too much to keep up, or it was just too hard. Anyway, after some searching, I found this site: bi-torrent.com which is very similar to suprnova. Please note I do not support piracy at all, and I am posting this link for informational purposes. You can probably get all your favorite (hopefully legal) stuff there. Once again, I don’t support piracy, I use that site for these downloads (linux stuff).

No, seriously, I do. There’s really nothing to pirate on linux, and the stuff that you can pirate isn’t worth it. Yes, there is always a free alternative. As for the music and videos, those take too long and aren’t worth it. I mean, they don’t just offer single songs, they’re always huge collections that take forever to download. I say just get the cd at walmart or get the songs on an online music store.

Whoa! New headers! Yeah, in case you didn’t notice, I posted two new headers for you guys. If you don’t see them at first, reload (or refresh if you use IE) the page a few times. Cool, right?

Well, I posted this before but it was erased. XMGFree merged with Unrealpages, and I made $90 off of it. Cool, right? We’ll still offer awesome support, we now offer amazing plans, PLUS we’ll be switching the forums to vBulletin soon, isn’t that awesome? And in case you’re wondering, this site’s hosted by XMGFree, so yeah. Pretty cool.

I almost died when I found out that my old host, Panther Hosting, had a hardware failiure, and I lost everything. Luckily I found this backup on my computer and managed to restore almost everything. Yeah, it sucks, doesn’t it? Anyway, this is the Benign Thoughts from last month so you’ll find that some stuff is missing.

Well, I’ve been playing around with Opera 7.6 and I discovered that I really like the interface. I used to always use it even after I switched to linux. In fact, the thing that made me switch browsers was that the WordPress “Write” screen wasn’t compatible with Opera, and Opera messed up with some select CSS. That’s when I began heavily using Firefox. Well, when I installed 7.6 and decided to play with it a little, I was suprised at how damn fast it feels. It just reacts quicker. The only thing I didn’t like was how the menus look, the lack of good css support, and how it doesn’t have any extensions. I love the panels and how everything is layed out. Anyway, once they perfect the CSS, I’ll probably switch unless Firefox gets a whole lot faster
