Benign Thoughts

Yeah yeah yeah, I haven’t blogged lately. Don’t jump all over me yet though, I have a good reason. You know XMGFree? Well, we’ve been having a lot of problems lately. What problems, you say? Well, it’s called a DDOS, or a Distributed Denial of Service. What that means is someone doesn’t like us, or a site we host, and are therefore attacking our site with requests in order to (A) kill the server, (B) Slow us down, or (C) make the account run out of bandwidth. Usually it’s to do A.

Well, here I am. Lately, I’ve been playing TS2: University, and it’s utterly amazing. I’m hooked. I bought the expansion pack monday, and I installed it on my little sister’s computer (mine is winblows free). I already installed several hacks, such as the Multi-Purpose painting and the Energizer Painting. Both are very useful, and if you play The Sims 2, you should install at least the MP one.

Color Goldfish? Yeah, I know I’m late on this, but I’ve never actually *seen* them before. You see, I’m in this group at school for kids who think “outside the box”. I know the two other guys that were there. I don’t know the three girls, but now I do. Hoorah. Anyway, it’s interesting, because we get to miss a random period every wednesday for this, and all you do in it is sit and talk about stuff. Today we had apple juice and goldfish because the counseler bought snacks. One of the bags of goldfish were the colored kind, and this girl, Kerry, was crazy about them because she likes colors. I wouldn’t eat them because I don’t find a green goldfish (oxymoron!) appitising, but whatever floats their goat. We took about 10 minutes to just sit and talk about the goldfish. The group rocks.

So, erm… that’s about it. XMGRadio is down due to the DDOSes, but hopefully it’ll be back up soon. I’ll blog again very soon…. well… if I have something to write about, that is. C’ya!

Woo! No School! Alright, I have no school today so I figured I would write in my blog, so here I am. I don’t really know what to say, so yeah.

Alright, there is now a shoutcast up at radio.xmgfree.com. Right now, our shoutcast server is down for some reason, but then it’s up you can expect a good variety of music and other cool stuff, like comedy and stuff. When I dj, I play all sorts of stuff, from Metal, to classic rock, to backwards songs, to Weird Al and other parodies. It’s really fun, especially if you’re in the IRC chat at irc.xmgnetworks.com port 6667. The channel is #xmgradio, so if you ever decide to tune in, join the IRC.

Tomorrow’s my birthday! I really, really hope I get my iRiver H-320 like I asked. If I don’t, it won’t be the end of the world or anything, but I’d just be a tad dissapointed. I have a feeling I will get it though, because my dad never said there wasn’t a chance or anything, and a package is supposed to come today for my dad’s “new plant” for his “fishtank”. It seems very important to him… hmm… I wonder what it is?

Damn, Opera 8 is awesome so far! These guys are really working hard on the engine. With each new beta, it gets a little faster and the css support increases. Yeah, with Beta 3 there is hardly any problems, except with some alignment when you move your cursor over a link in some places, but I think that’s the CSS, not Opera, since it rarely happens, and it only happens on IPB sites.

Maybe I’ll post more later, maybe I won’t… It depends on whether or not I’m doing something else. Oh yeah, and the flame? Yeah, I hate this one, it’s so cheezy. I was playing around in GIMP and this came out, and it would be a waste if I didn’t use it…

Alright, so I was halfway through a blog post, and suddenly, BloGTK crashed. Yeah, I hit the spellcheck button and it was going over my typos, and I clicked “change” when I accidently typed “keyboard” as “keybard” because my key didn’t push in, I guess, and it just died. Yeah, BloGTK just died. No feedback, no slowing down, it just quit out of nowhere. Doesn’t that just suck?

Anyway, I’m sorry for not posting for more than a week. I got lazy, I was talking on skype, you know. If you haven’t already gotten skype, go get it NOW. Yeah, that means you. You have no excuse, it’s for Winblows, Linux, and Mac, so yeah. The Mac version doesn’t support chatrooms, but it still IMs and Voice Chats, so get it anyway. As long as you have a working mic, it’ll work (even behind a firewall).

My keyboard sucks. I have sticky keys and keys that are hard to push in. It’s a real pain in the ass, and I’m making typos everywhere because I keep missing letters since they don’t go through. I figure I need to take all the keys off and vacuum it out, or I need to get a new one. I’ll probably get a new one… that is… after I get more ram.

Woo hoo! My birthday’s coming up in under a week, and I really hope I get an mp3/ogg player. I either want an iRiver or an iPod, but it has to be at least 20 gigs. I want to be able to listen to my music anywhere, not just when I’m on my computer. I don’t even have a cd player, so don’t say I can just burn cds. Besides, cds aren’t practical. When I buy a cd, I rip it right away, I never listen to the music on the actual cd. If I even HAD a cd player, I wouldn’t want to carry around cds with me all the time… No, an mp3/ogg player would be much better.

I switched to Opera. It’s a lot nicer and faster than Firefox, and now that it has good css support, I really have no reason to use firefox anymore except for sites that won’t work in Opera. Don’t worry, I’ll still work on the Get The Facts page, and I’ll still support Firefox.

I made a new comment style… It’s like a lot of the other blogs, where it says “Whoever said” and then the comment. I like it better that way: it’s easier to read and it looks nicer. If you don’t have one already, go get a Gravatar.

Damn, liberals really piss me off. I don’t see how they could be so damn annoying… Anyway, I’ll post some more of that later. I’m sorry for not blogging for so long. I needed some time off. I had a campout, I recompiled my kernel (took 20 minutes :-)) and I did quite a lot since I last said anything, so let’s get started, shall we?

Mmm… voice chat! I recently got skype to work, and I love it. It’s a voice chat thing, but it’s just so amazing. If you pay a certain amount of money, you can call regular phones using this program, and you can talk for free with anyone with skype. It has better voice quality than anything I’ve ever tried, and even my dad is amazed by it. Anyway, go get it. My skype name is LouisC. (with the period), but IM me before you call me and let me know who you are. I highly reccommend getting it.. it’s amazing.

Now, liberals! Yeah, they piss me off. Recently on Buddy4u’s Forums (which I moderate), there was a post on gay marriage. Well, I’m conservative, and I really do not like gay marriage. The first time I said this, they immidiately jumped on me and said that I’m anti-gay or something, and that I hate all gays and don’t think they should be treated equally, which is totally untrue. Of course they should be treated equally, and we all marry women, so why can’t they (joke)? But seriously, folks, what do you think the next step if they say gay marriage is alright? I’ll answer that for you: people are going to want multiple wives or husbands and people are going to want to marry animals. Marriage is between a man and a woman. Not two men, not two women, and not multiple men or women. A legal or spiritual union between one man, and one woman. That’s what marriage is. Deal with it.

I know I’m going to get tons of angry comments from that, but I had to get it out to at least SOME people that would listen (or read). For instance, look at the forums right now at B4U and look at how much they’re bashing me. Look in some people’s sigs. I deleted the topic because there was too much flaming going on, and not just at me, but they say it’s because I couldn’t stand the truth and blady blady blah. What idiots
