I’m really sorry for not posting at all for almost a month… I’ve just been lazy, and, well, yeah. However, from now on, I’m going to try my best to post every other day (somewhat), in order to get back into the habit of blogging regularly. Anyway, I’m going to try to make this post nice and long, and it’ll actually have some content. Just bear with me, alright?
If you subscribe to my feed, you might notice that it’s redirecting to feedburner now. Yeah, I really like the statistics from it. It’s rather nice. I see one person other than me is using Opera to read this, and one person is using Firefox’s live bookmarks, and everyone else is either using Google, a Java client, a regular application, or some web based thing. Don’t worry, the feed url, http://benignthoughts.com/feed still works. It just redirects to feedburner now. Nobody should be broken, so yeah, it’s all good :D. Also notice that I now use the standard feed icon instead of the text. I’m hoping that’ll let more people know that I do, in fact, have a feed.
Right now I’m posting from Drivel. It’s a lot nicer than BloGTK. It has syntax highlighting so I can tell tags apart from my text, and it has live spellcheck which is always good.
And now, in some less-personal news, it seems that gmail ignores the periods in usernames. I saw this article today, it was on digg. When I saw it, I was like, “holy crap”. Now, I haven’t had this problem at all, but it’s still fairly serious. Read the article. Apparently, Google sees “blah@gmail.com” and “bla.h@gmail.com” as being the same email address, so if someone signs up as “bla.h@gmail.com” and “blah@gmail.com” is taken, well, things could get messy. blah could receive bla.h’s email and that’s never good.
On an un-related note, anybody who talks to me on Google Talk, add “louisc@jabber.org” to your contact list, since I probably won’t be using my regular GTalk account now that they support real jabber access.
So, uh, yeah, that’s it. I have midterms this week, and I’ll try to post on Tuesday but I can’t guarantee anything.
Update: Arstechnica posted an update to their story about the GMail periods in usernames “problem”. Apparently, the guy who was receiving the other guy’s email was mistaken and the emails he received were misaddressed. Basically, it looks like there is no problem
