Downtime

Yes, I know there was some downtime for the past few days but it’s all past us now. Hopefully there won’t be anymore. I will have a full entry tomorrow, don’t worry.

Trying something new…

I haven’t gotten many Spam Karma 2 emails lately, so it looks like Bad Behavior’s working really well. Because of this, I’ve turned off SK2 and used a hack to try out AJAX commenting. People with Javascript turned off will just use the regular method. Please don’t spam me with test comments though. A real, full blog entry might come tonight. If not tonight, tomorrow. If I get spam comments again, I’ll turn SK2 back on and get rid of the AJAX, of figure out a way to get it to work with SK2.

XMGFree and XMGNetworks Changes

Hey everyone! I have a few things to blog about today, so I figure I’ll just jump right into it.

No more school! Yep, I have no more school until September. This means I will be up later and I’ll be putting more time into Opera, XMG, and TMR.

Yes, I know TMR’s going rather slowly. This is because I haven’t talked to either of the other DJs: Eric S. and Casey S. Both of them are now DJs on Novastream so they will probably have their hands tied up with that for a while. Hopefully things will pick up in a while, I don’t want to have to abandon this project, and I probably won’t. I want to go join Novastream also, but I can’t since I’m on Linux and they use this request application thing that requires Winblows. Maybe I can run it in WINE…

If you visit XMGFree regularly, you might notice some changes. The main thing right now is that the forum is being centralized. Members will keep their accounts and no posts will be lost, but last night and today we moved the forum and did some modifications to the skin, such as new logo images and such. The old XMGFree forum is now the XMGNetworks forum. We’re not exactly sure how this will work, but it should hopefully work out well.

Well, that’s it! Keep in mind that this site is ALWAYS run on the latest Wordpress from Subversion, and it’s highly experimental, so if you encounter any problems, let me know via the email form. Thanks!

New More-Smilies Smilie Package

Alright, I was testing out a new package for the more-smilies wordpress plugin, and I’m quite pleased with it. You can get it here. You might recognise these smilies from the Jimmac smilie set for GAIM. They are the same smilies. They’re also the smilies I use here. :-) :-( :-P :-D 8-|) :-* =-O etc…
[edit: I updated the package quickly, I added : - * without the spaces to do :-* since :-" didn't like to work for some reason. I think it has something to do with Wordpress making the fancy quotes.]
[edit: I updated the package again since it was causing... issues.]

I think it’s time…

Hello everybody. I’ve been working a lot lately, but I’m sorry I didn’t blog more recently. I’m just gonna jump right into this, so here goes nothing….

Lately I’ve been really disappointed with modern HTML help sites. They seem to promote non-standard code, crappy javascript, and usually they don’t teach you a thing about HTML or XHTML, so I think it’s time for a real HTML help site. I highly doubt it’ll get as many visitors, but why not? It’ll be like w3schools, but focused more towards the average idiot on the internet. Hopefully it’ll be as successful as the original Suppliers. I plan on starting it sometime this summer, but I don’t know. If anyone is very experienced with XHTML and CSS, feel free to email me if you would like to help.

Speaking of projects, remember the “Get The Facts” thing? Well, I’ve gotten everyone I need, and this summer I will be working on additional content. If you want to help me with that, let me know, also. If you still want to send in your testimonial, go ahead also.

About the new font… I absolutely loved my old title font, and I had nothing against it. I’d still be using it now if Corey hadn’t stolen it. Heh, It’s not like I made the font or anything, I just don’t want people thinking I saw his site and liked the font and used it here. It gets messy, you know? Anyway, I like this new font, so whatever.

Sorry for such a short blog today, I’m not really in the mood. I’ll hopefully post again tomorrow. Later!

Return of the Radio

Remember XMGRadio? We’re back, but under a new name, and seperate from XMG. We are now Talking Muffin Radio, or TMR for short. Go there, tune in, yeah. A real post will be up either later or tomorrow.

Done with CreateBlog

Damn, that site’s full of bitches (no offense to the few nice people there). I mean, look at my ratings, for instance. Number 1184 (why is it up so high?) is the one I’m mainly going to be talking about. It was posted on May 4th.

1.) Your journal font is too SMALL, (maybe when you grow up it will get bigger with age?) Haha!-Doubt it!

2.) You bash other diariests and are in violation of being pulled from the rankings if enough people complain about your sorry ways and cheating by downing everyone elses sites, I complained about you and so did someone else :) maybe others will complain about you too.

(It would be good to see you go) and talking about others but not allowing them to reply to your comments in your journal is just plain LAME! (It shows how young you are and are really afraid of people defending themselves to you.)

Believe me, I got even with you in MY journal and anyone that sees it will know it’s YOU I’m calling a stupid kid that doesn’t play fair.

I’m pretty sure this is by that hellcat chick. If it’s not, fine.

As for the first point, alright. I changed the font because someone mature complained a couple of weeks ago saying that it was hard to read. If anyone still has problems, let me know via comment, email, or the email form.

Now, for the second point, I’m not going to even bother with the “young”/baby thing, especially since you go on and start yapping about “OOh, look! You’re disobaying the rules! I’m telling”. You’re the one who should be considered “young”. I do more things than you can imagine, hellcat. I maintain a free hosting site, I give support at that same hosting site, I moderate the forums at buddy4u, I’m an IRCop at XMGNetworks’ IRC server, I’m an Opera Ambassatran, and I’m also working with Bobby (if he’s still up for it) on getting a shoutcast server up for an online radio. Don’t call me young, when you’re the most immature person I’ve ever come across.

Then, she goes on to say that I cheat, and bashing other diaries is against the rules. The actual rule is the following:

03) Please do not vandalize/profanitize/destroy other people by commenting on the topsite with rude remarks that are not helpful or constructive.

In that case, you’re the one disobeying the rules, missy. I simply posted about how I thought your site looked bad because of the tiled background which makes the font, which shouldn’t be white in the first place, hard to read. It wasn’t even ON your site, it was on mine, as a post. That rule’s point is to prevent hateful remarks that vandalize the site they’re posted on. This is my own blog, so I can do whatever I want here. I didn’t post one comment on your blog, so even if I said you were a stupid bitch, I wouldn’t be going against any rules whatsoever. Besides, even if I hadn’t joined that topsite list, I’d still say the same things about your blog if I ever came across it.

Anyway, I’m done with that list. It causes too many problems. I’m already higher than her on the list anyway, “without cheating”. Oh yeah, one last thing: I’m still getting spam from you. Thanks a lot. If it wasn’t for Opera Mail’s spam filter, I’d be in big trouble.

Another post might come later, after my orchestra concert.
